Can one person really help change the World?
If asked if they think they can really make a difference, most people will say something like: “I can't change the world, I’m too small” or “I don’t have enough experience or time” or “I can’t afford to”. Most people think changing the world is doing something like what Mother Teresa or Gandhi did. Not so. All of us can make the world a better place by just "lifting where we stand".
Most people who have helped change the world started by making where they live a little better place. They may have done this by helping a homeless person get some food, growing food for people who don’t have any or even picking up litter. Usually you don't have to go far to find someone somewhere who could use a little 'lift'.
Sometimes a person decides to do something big-like the person who ran 500 miles across the US to raise awareness about human trafficking! But usually change happens right at home in your own town.
The Kids Can Change The World club is striving to make a difference in their community and even the world! And the amazing thing is that all of our members are kids! We believe that no one is to small to make a difference. Some people might ask us why we do what we do, well the answer is we love to do it. We find great joy in doing service, and don’t think we’ll ever stop.
Some of the things we have done to help change the world includes: Doing a book-drive and building bookcases for our local homeless shelter, plant a garden for and serve at the local soup kitchen, donate funds to local families in need, regularly singing to patients at the hospital and hosting various community events. Some of the community events KCCW has sponsored have been an annual Daddy-Daughter-Dance, hunger banquet, swap meet, and a kids craft fair just to name a few! 100% of the profit has gone to the following projects:
As Mother Teresa once said "If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one." which is something that KCCW members take to heart. We know we can't change the whole world all at once, so we will start right here at home, changing a little bit at a time!
Now you might be wondering how you can make a difference, the answer is simple, just start cleaning up around town or maybe help a neighbour paint his house for them and you could make a HUGE difference!
